President's Letter

Gretchen Jordan, CVA

Greetings!

It is my pleasure and honor to welcome you to AL!VE. As you know, this organization has grown from an idea from a group of thoughtful, committed folks who were (and are) truly passionate about the profession of volunteer resource management. I am so thankful to them all for their ideas, energy, passion, and tenacity.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the board of directors and have the privilege of working with such a great group. Our current board has worked very well together, and despite meeting face to face only twice in the past ten months, I feel the board has been able to move forward with thoughtful discussion and a strong sense of our vision and mission at heart.

With President Obama’s call to service and the passage of the Serve America Act, this field is poised to become more important than ever – and part of the mission of AL!VE is to advocate for the profession and provide professional development. With the activities and events AL!VE has been involved in the past few months, I feel we are on our way to continue the growth of a strong, vital and relevant organization. I invite you to read more on our website, www.volunteeralive.org, and check out all the information our website has to offer. The ‘updates and reports’ section can give you a more detailed background of AL!VE’s presence and activities over the past few months. We will be updating on a regular basis as well.

As with the birth of any organization, there are challenges and successes to learn from and celebrate. I feel we have accomplished so much with an all-volunteer board and with most of our board members employed full time, it has been a remarkable effort on their part. My sincere thanks to all of you!

As we continue to grow in our membership, outreach and fulfill our goals, I ask you to be a part of the organization as well. Join me in celebrating the birth of AL!VE and I encourage all of you to add what you can with your time, talent and expertise.

Sincerely,

Gretchen Jordan, CVA
